This is an outstanding initiative and I will watch it closely. I have done a post about you on my blog http://messingaboutinboats.typepad.com/sailing/. If you haven't already you should let other blogs in the US on Darwin, sailing or that take a stand against Intelligent Design know about your project. The $ will flow in just to annoy the creationists.
Will you be taking any Fuegans with you?
That would be fantastic.
Please let me recommend contacting the Yahgan descendants in Puerto Williams, World's Southernst town, on Navarin island, Cape Horn Commune (www.municipalidadcabodehornos.cl),in Chile.
Also it is possible and perhaps better to contact Dr. Ricardo Rozzi, Director of The Omora Etnobotanical Park, in Puerto Williams (www.omora.org).
